The Idea
Summer is one of the busiest times of year, so to get earlier bookings, Speak Up London offers an early bird discount for anyone booking in the month of May.
The Execution
Without a deeper concept, I took the opportunity to explore summer trends for 2024. Inspired by the retro-90s (yes, I called 90s retro) design trend that follows magazine and editorial designs from that decade, I developed something that would be impactful and new for the language learning industry.
The video follows the same format as our summer video from the last year (my first work at Speak Up London!) with updated, brighter footage from 2023 and also reminded me to explore current design trends as I did the previous year.
Learnings
One of the main learnings throughout the development of the creative for this campaign was ensuring that we capture photos with future posters in mind. We were restricted to photos taken in colder months as any previous summer photos had been already used in campaigns in 2023 or featured staff that no longer worked with us.
Another note I made is to make sure to highlight some of our older students and encourage male students to get more involved in general recording. Diversity is one of our key selling points but the content available to us currently is quite female-focussed.
